Weekend Gateway: Trip to Gokarna

Hello everyone,

It had been a much awaited vacation and it turned out to be amazingly fun-filled  and fulfilling one. We had been to Gokarna and Murudeshwar. Here I am going to share my experience about my trip to Gokarna.

Day 1

Travel – Was the day we traveled from Bangalore by road . We started at 6 a.m in the morning and reached Gokarna at 3 p.m. We took multiple breaks in between the journey covering a total distance of 496 kms .We took the sirsi siddapur route via yellapur, it was serene and peaceful with deep jungles.

Stay @ Hotel Gokarna International– Trust me there is nothing international about the hotel. Its shabby, rooms are very dirty, no basic amenities with seepage all over the roof, kind of scary and haunted. we had to move to Namaste cafe on the second day.

Breakfast @ kamat – I would rate it poor, usually kamat has a very good preparations but this one served us almost raw idlis.

Lunch @ PAI restaurant-Again below average food, we had ordered chapatis and paneer, chapatis were like papad.

Dinner @Namaste cafe- I have to tell you that if you visit Gokarna , this is one and the  only best place to eat and relax. we had ordered beer along with Gobi Manchurian , Paneer pakoda and prawn sizzlers, All tasted good and for dinner do try there egg biryani, the taste is awesome, quantity is enough and not heavy on your pockethomeCafe

Site Seeing@ Gokarna Beach– This beach was not much crowded, water was clean, but the beach was very dirty and under maintained.

Day 2

Stay @ Namaste Cafe– It is located on the Om Beach ,we were lucky enough to get a room there, staff is friendly and have good hospitality. Rooms are clean with basic facilities like hot water , drinking water, towel, soaps, bed linen etc. For more info you can visit www.namastegokarna.com.

Breakfast@ Namaste cafe – They have got wide varieties of breakfast from parothas to pancakes, both veg and non veg options are available. Tea they serve is really good.

Dinner@ Namaste cafe- we repeated the previous day menu, was bit over spiced.

Site seeing@ Om Beach- We reached there at 7.30 a.m , it was peaceful and calm, lots of people doing meditation and yoga at the beach, you will also find dogs and cows there 😉

On our way uphill to om beach

Kudle Beach– Its clean and crowded, with not much shacks around. There is a hill top near the parking place, Do not miss to see the sunset from there , the view is beautiful and worth watching.

Sunset at the hilltop

Day 3

Stay@Namaste cafe

We went for a walk at 6.a.m at Om beach and trust me it was worth waking up early and enjoying the mesmerizing beauty and calmness at the beach.

Breakfast@ Namaste Cafe– we tried there regular breakfast combo which included two eggs, three toasts, butter, jam, hash potato and tea. Quantity was enough for a heavy breakfast and quality was definitely good.

Lunch@Naveen Beach Restaurant Murudeshwar.

Dinner @ Namaste cafe- We ordered regular meals including Paneer butter masala, Dal fry and Chapatis. The taste was authentic and satisfying.

Site Seeing@ Murudeshwar Temple and cave ,Murudeshwar Beach

I would highly recommend this place if you want to enjoy a peaceful yet fun filled vacation.

P.S- The place is very thinly populated and equipped with very basic facilities. Its better to carry your regular medications and basic supplies.

  1. Actually I belong to the same place. And reading these things from a tourist, makes me happy… People say,. We don’t get the idea of happiness when we stay at same place, but we will actually be proud when outsiders say something… I hope you enjoyed a lot back then..
